Overview

Desert Springs Resort is an international award-winning luxury resort and championship desert golf course located in Cuevas del Almanzora, Europe.

The challenge

The client wanted a website that represented their brand. Working alongside the design team, I had to implement their designs in a way to give the feeling of luxury and relaxation. Browsing the website needed to make the user felt as if they were at the resort.

The process

The project started with an internal discussion and brainstorming session with relevant stakeholders. After establishing what was required, I looked at ways to use motion to create a feeling of luxury and relaxation. I took these findings and created a motion theory that served as the foundation of the development. Always referring back to this motion theory, I implanted the designs to mimic the feeling we needed to create.

The concept

The idea was to create a website that makes users feel as if they were at the resort. We wanted to create a window into the resort as a way to convince people to make a booking based on the feeling of luxury and relaxation.

Key learnings

Motion can set the tone of any project. Just buy slowing down interactions and scroll speed the tone of the website changed from just another website to one of deep relaxation. By utilising lateral scroll we created a way to look over the resort, giving the impression to they user that they are overlooking the resort. Motion can sway users to make decisions easier and with more confidence.
